Something Pink Kalgoorlie fundraiser cheque presentation 2019

Something Pink 2020

Katrina Tedge from Something Pink has advised that unfortunately events for 2020 have been cancelled due to Coronavirus.

“We value the health and well-being of our community more than anything,” she said.

In 2019 they raised an amazing $106,533. This is the true Aussie spirit, recognising that all are touched by breast cancer and that world class research into finding a cure is the key.

We look forward to advising of a new date in the near future.

Just Keep Swimming

South32 Rottnest Channel Swim teams raise $21,734

There were three groups who participated in the Rottnest Channel Swim on 22 February and did a fantastic job fundraising for Breast Cancer Research Centre-WA. They dedicated time to training in preparation for the Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island swim and were able to rally their friends and families to support them and donate.

Bernard Schortinghuis ‘Just Keep Swimming’ raised $4,183 from the swim, and with his wife Julia (pictured above), organised a wine and olive oil appreciation night fundraiser at home, raising an additional $9,411.

We sincerely congratulate ‘Just Keep Swimming’, ‘The Breaststrokers’ and the ‘Nova Buoys’ teams for their hard work, preparation and success.

Car Wash and Cookies

Channel 7 Port to Pub

The Channel 7 Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest swim event was scheduled for 21 March, however due to COVID-19 and public safety requirements, the event was cancelled.

This disappointing but necessary development did not deter the ‘Dad’s and Lad’s’ team. Paul and Mitch Keppel with Macca and Hamish McCarthy raised $7,747 on their Everydayhero fundraising page and ran a Carwash and Cookies event at Dalkeith Primary School adding $1,363 to their fundraising total.

We hope that 2021 will give the Keppel and McCarthy families another opportunity to participate in the Port to Pub.

Shearing for Liz Pink Day Wyalkatchem

‘Shearing for Liz’ in Wyalkatchem

Quentin Davies and Tom Reed with his wife Lucy presented BCRC-WA with a cheque for over $33,000 from their annual event. This event is in memory of their friend Liz Roberts who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2014 and also to raise awareness in their community.

We are thankful to all those involved and are very much looking forward to a modified event in early September this year. More details to come.
